About the Author
Ryan Palmer is a self-taught bilingual speaker. The challenges he faced and the lessons he learned throughout his language-learning journey have inspired him to write stories that give people the fundamental translations between English and Spanish.
Language-Learning Journey
Working on a drilling platform in the North Sea he worked with two men he considers good friends and one day he overheard them speaking Spanish together. He made it his mission to make Spanish his second language. After a short period of time the crew had to be split up and Ryan was out on his own. Both men said to Ryan "Every body says that they are going to learn but no body ever does." This didn't sit right with him. So he immersed himself in the Spanish language by watching box sets on Netflix with English subtitles and Disney cartoon films accompanying his children with Spanish subtitles on. During story time with his children he would google translate the words for himself to learn whilst reading. One night the internet stopped working and no translations could be made, it was on that same night that he started writing his first bilingual children's book.
